New Delhi, 11: Maharashtra State received four awards under 'Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee - 2018' (MNREGA). The awards were specially conferred for effective implementation of government's flagship water conservation schemes; 'Jalyukt Shivar Yojana' and 'Farm Ponds on Demand' scheme. Union Rural Development Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar presented the Awards today.
The Award Ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhavan. A total of 237 Awards under different categories were conferred to States excelling in the works done under MNREGA.
Maharashtra State was conferred with Awards under four categories: State, District, Village Panchayat and Post Office for effective implementation of MNREGA. This award has been given to Maharashtra Government's Employment Guarantee Department for the stupendous work done in effective implementation of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's ambitious schemes, Jalyukt Shivar 'and ‘Farm Ponds on Demand’ along with various conserving water schemes.
State Award for Mission Water Conservation
Maharashtra completed a total of 229918 works under MGNREGS, of which, 70514 are Natural Resource Management (NRM) works in the Year 2017-18. The total expenditure was 2294.88 Cr in which expenditure share of NRM works was 1451.74 Cr. The State government has used potential treatment map for planning of NRM works in every Gram Panchayat. Effective implementation of Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan has significantly contributed in MGNREGA for NRM works.
In FY 2017-18 state achieved Labour budget of 825 lakh Persondays which is 103% of the targeted Labour Budget given by Ministry of Rural Development.
Gadchiroli Awarded for Effective Implementation Under MGNREGA
The Gadchiroli District was awarded this prestigious award for effectively implementing the MNREGA works across the District. It started 8894 works and generated 39.12 lakh person days during the year 2016-17 under MGNREGS. A total of 89thousand households worked under MGNREGA, which includes 1.94 lakh workers.
The total expenditure incurred is 136.13 Cr, of which, 73% expenditure was on Agriculture and Allied works. Being a tribal district with 38% of tribal population, the focus was on individual works and completed 6750 individual works such as Farm Ponds, Irrigation Wells, Poultry Sheds, Goat Shed, NADEP Composting, Vermi Composting, Cattle Shed, IHHL etc. The ratio of individual works and community works is 76:24. With 955 irrigation works the district has covered irrigation of 3938 Ha. Area. EG Commissioner and former Gadchiroli Collector, Shri A.S.R.Naik, Present Collector Shekhar Singh, Deputy Commissioner K.N.Rao, Deput CEO Jayant Behere, BDO S.P.Padghan received this Award collectively.
Nagri Gram Panchayat Gets National Award
Gadchiroli District’s Nagri Gram Panchayat was awarded the best gram panchayat for effective implementation of MNREGA. Under the able leadership of Sarpanch Ajay Mhashakhetri, the Gram Panchayat undertook NRM works and expedited the completion of 38 works of NRM in the year 2016-17. This Gram Panchayat has created 8418 Person days with expenditure of Rs.14.71 Lakhs. Initiating works like Plantation, Land reforms, Farm Road, CC Road, PMAY Houses and Deepening of Water bodies, this Gram Panchayat had excelled in effectively implementing the scheme.
Nutan Prakash Gets Gramin Dak Sevika Award
Smt. Nutan Prakash Baswant was awarded as Best Gramin Dak Sevika Award, for her outstanding performance in the effective implementation of MNREGA. Making sincere efforts to provide Labours / Man Power for works under MGNREGS by explaining the Scheme and motivating them to avail benefits under MNREGA, she was acknowledged and honored with the Award. Smt Nutan Prakash received this honor at the hands of the Union Minister while the Sarpanch, Ajay Mhashakhetri and Gramsevak Rakesh Shivankar were also present on the occasion.
Pune’s MPTA Education Institution Gets Best Employer Award
Under MNREGA’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Vikas Kaushal Yojana, Pune’s MPTA Education Ltd was awarded with the Best Employer Award. The Director of the institute, Sadanand Deshpande received this Award.
Employment Guarantee Minister Jayakumar Rawal and State Chief Secretary DK Jain congratulated the state government departments, officials and people's representatives on the award for best performance.
