New Delhi, 05: The exchange of
traditional cuisines of Maharashtra and Odisha, has only drawn us more closer, remarked
Rina Mahapatra, the Joint Commissioner of Odisha Bhawan, during the celebration
of Odisha Food Festival at Maharashtra Sadan, today.
The Odisha Food Festival was organized
at Maharashtra Sadan. After inaugurating the Festival, Smt. Mahapatra remarked,
Odisha is a State, where people are accustomed to eat light and sweet food,
where as the people of Maharashtra are fond of eating food which is hot and
spicy. This is something worth experiencing, and through Ek Bharat Shreshtha
Bharat programme, I feel happy for the cultural connect between both the States.
The Resident Commissioner of
Maharashtra Sadan welcomed the guests from Odisha at Sadan. The Investment and
Protocol Commissioner, Shri Lokesh Chandra, Additional Commissioner, Samir
Sahai, Assistant Resident Commissioner, Suman Chandra and many other senior
officers were present during this festival. This Food Festival brought together
the Resident Commissioners of many States having their Bhawans in Delhi.
Retired IAS Officers like Ajay Dua and A.K.Mago were also present.
A variety of Odiyan delicacies like Badi
Chura, Chakuli Pitha, Odiyan Bhaat, Dalma, Ghanta Tarkari, Machha Besara,
Chicken curry, Tomato Khata, Dahi Brinjal and savouries like Chena Poda,
Rosogulla were served. Prior to celebrating the Odisha Food Festival, Odisha
Bhawan had celebrated Maharashtra Food Festival on 21st of November.
The Ministry of Culture has initiated
this program which aims at celebrating the cultural
vibrancy of the Nation while establishing a concrete mechanism to inculcate
nationalism and cultural awareness amongst all the citizens. This would provide
the required boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of
the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.
