New Delhi, 30: A sum of Rs. 2 lakh 73 thousand 183 crore has
been distributed countrywide through ‘Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme’, of
which, funds of Rs. 3,210 crore have been deposited in the bank accounts of the
beneficiaries through DBT in Maharashtra.
Direct Benefit
Transfer Scheme (DBT) started in 2013. This program aims to transfer subsidies directly to the people through
their bank accounts with the hope that crediting subsidies into bank accounts
will reduce leakages, delays etc. Through this scheme, 410 schemes of 56
ministries are directly funded by "DBT" in the bank accounts of the
beneficiaries. This scheme has saved over Rs 57,000 crore in last 4 years.

Till date, a
fund of Rs. 3 Thousand 210 crore has been deposited directly into the bank
account of beneficiaries through DBT in Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, 18 lakh 35
thousand 364 beneficiaries have been linked to the DBT scheme. 13 lakh 30
thousand beneficiaries have been registered for the benefit of various schemes
of Social Justice and Special Assistance Department. 41,310 beneficiaries have
been registered in the minority department; 1 lakh 43 thousand in tribal
development department, 3 lakh 8 thousand in higher and technical education
department, 12 thousand 156 beneficiaries have registered online in the school
education department till date.
Distributed by 90 billion Crores DBT in one year
In the financial
year 2017-18, a fund of Rs 90 thousand 240 crore 28 lakh rupees have been distributed
through DBT to 60 crore 45 lakh beneficiaries till date. In 2013-14, 10.88 lakh
beneficiaries were added to the direct benefit transfer scheme and 7 thousand
367 Crores of funds were distributed.

Transfer Scheme has increased since last four years from 2014 to 2017-18. In
the year 2014-15, a fund of Rs. 38,926 crore was deposited in 22 crores 82 lakh
beneficiaries’ accounts. In the year
2015-16, 31.25 lakh beneficiaries with 61 thousand 942 crores were benfited by
DBT. In the year 2016-17, 74 thousand 707 crore was deposited in 35 million 7
lakh beneficiaries’ bank accounts and in this year a fund of Rs 60 crore 45
lakh beneficiaries have been distributed with an amount of Rs. 90,240 crore
through DBT.
Through this
Scheme of DBT, funding has been made for gas subsidy, employment guarantee
scheme, scholarship and scheme, national financial aid scheme and social
justice schemes.
