Infrastructure Projects in Maharashtra worth Rs.1,43,000 cr in last four years




New Delhi 4: Maharashtra State has once again become the number one state in infrastructure building. In the last four years, 284 infrastructure projects have been sanctioned in the state and the cost of this project is Rs.1 lakh43 thousand 736 crore.
The central government's Department of Economic Affairs has released information of infrastructure projects of the country till March 31, 2018. These infrastructure projects include government infrastructure projects, public sector projects, public private partnership projects and government infrastructure projects. These include infrastructure projects worth 5 to 50 crores and more.
1144 infrastructure projects in Maharashtra in 28 years
The Department of Economic Affairs has published information on infrastructure projects in the country since 1990 on its website. In the last 28 years, 9 thousand and 68 infrastructure projects worth 54 lakh 65 thousand crore were undertaken in the country.  As compared to this, Maharashtra’s 1144 infrastructure projects worth Rs 6lakh 19 thousand were undertaken for Maharashtra. With this,  Maharashtra is number one in the construction of infrastructure followed by Uttar Pradesh with 544 projects worth Rs 3,43,000 crore investment. Goa is at third position in the state's infrastructure, 46 projects worth Rs 3 lakh 25 thousand crore were undertaken in the state. Arunachal Pradesh is in fourth place and Andhra Pradesh is fifth in the rankings.
Maharashtra gets 284 infrastructure projects in four years
Large number of infrastructure projects has been undertaken in the state in the last four years. 284 projects worth Rs 1 lakh 43 thousand 736 crore have been undertaken in the five years from 2014 to 2018.
                                Year-Wise Infrastructure Projects
In the year 2014-15, Maharashtra undertook  98 projects worth Rs. 21 thousand 579 crores.  In the year 2015-16, 82 projects worth Rs. 32 thousand 976 crore and 73 lakhs were undertaken. During the financial year 2016-17, 82 projects worth 60 thousand 270 crore 71 lakhs and 41 infrastructure projects of Rs. 28, 990 crores have been undertaken in 2017-18.
In the last four years, 3470 infrastructure projects worth Rs. 15 lakh 82 thousand crore were undertaken in the country. Of which, 284 projects worth Rs. 1 lakh 43 thousand 736 crore have been undertaken in Maharashtra. In the last 28 years, on an average, 40 infrastructure projects were being undertaken in the state. Today, in comparison, on average, 71 infrastructure projects per year have been undertaken in the last four years in Maharashtra.
