10 Year Old Sangli’s Urvi Patil Sets History By Trekking Himalaya’s 13800 Ft

New Delhi, 16: Sangli’s Urvi Anil Patil, probably the youngest girl scaled 13,800 feet in the Shivalik range of Himalayas in the temperature of minus 8 degrees Celsius, completed the dangerous Himalayan mountaineering journey with wind speed of 30 to 40 km per hour, scaling the SAR PASS trails of the Shivalik range of the mighty Himalayas. This little girl, who comes from a small village of Saroli in Sangli District of Maharashtra, presently resides in Goa, visited Maharashtra Information Centre today.

Sharing her wild experiences and record, Urvi narrated vivid incidents encountering this expedition. She says, their trek started from Kasol base camp in Himachal Pradesh on May 4, 2018. However, our actual trek took off on May 7. Initially, to get acquainted with this fiery environment, we went for smaller treks Kasol is a base camp with 6,500 feet, and next to the Grahan (7600 ft) Padri (9 300 ft) Minthas (11200 ft) Nagaru (12500 ft) biskery (11,000 ft) and Bandakthaz (8000 ft). She is the first Maharashtrian girl to scale this summit at such a tender age.
Scaling the SAR PASS Trail
Speaking on her victory, Urvi says the tekking camp passes from Nagaru to Biskeri, where in the SAR PASS falls at the altitude of 13thousand 800 feet. This is the most difficult trek.  There is a 14km long stretch going through the snow which is terribly risky, says she.  For scaling this summit, she had to wake up at 2am in the midnight with a cup of hot tea, jiggery and some nuts. However, the climate took for adverse with terrible snow falling, but, she did not give up. She was determined to achieve this dream of hers and she started for her journey at 3.15am under the guidance of her camp leader.  After trekking 200 mtrs, we started for the SAR PASS plateau. We reached SAR PASS on 14th of May and achieved this feat, express Urvi. Given my age, it was something very commendable, she says excitedly. SAR Pass Trail offers an opportunity to enjoy the exquisite beauty of the Parvati valley with Kasol, Biskeri, Nagaru and Manikaran as its beauty spots.

 Accepting the Challenge
Originally, the organizer of Youth Hostel Association of India, for trekking SAR PASS, the age limit required is a minimum of 15 years. I was less than 10 years old, so I did not get this opportunity, but I decided to trek it. My father wrote a letter of consent to this organization and got the permission to send me for this expedition.

Since this was a Herculean task, I needed to be mentally and physically fit. I focused on diet, exercise and yoga. For one and a half hours in the morning, I used to walk on the beach alongside the seashore and did yoga and exercising. The diet mainly consisted of seafood and dried fruits. During this journey, I carried several layers of clothes, goggles, trekking boots and sticks because of biting cold.  However, this journey has instilled and boosted up my confidence.  Now, I would look in for more such prospects, grins Urvi.
