Swachhata Sarvekshan Awards 2018 Announced:Maharashtra tops with 10 Awards





New Delhi 16: On the basis of Swachh Survekshan 2018 assessed in 4203 Urban Local Bodies and 434 cities, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) announced the swachh Sarvekshan Awards.  Maharashtra has become the second largest state in the cleanliness work done in the country. Maharashtra will receive cleanliness award for 9 cities and Maharashtra has received 10 top honors. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri announced today the results of the Swachh Sarvekshan Awards- 2018.
The focus of Swachh Survekshan 2018 was on the outcome, innovation and sustainability of initiatives taken by Urban Local Bodies under Swachh Bharat Mission. The highlights of Swachh Survekshan-2018 are as below –
            Maharashtra’s 9 Cities announced Swachh Sarvekshan Awards
Under Swachh Sarvekshan, 9 cities of Maharashtra have been announced clean cities, six of which have been declared National Level Cleanliness Award, while three cities have been awarded department-level prizes.
Nagpur: India’s Best City in ‘Innovation and Best Practices’
Nagpur has been announced the Best city with a under "Innovation and Best Practices". Navi Mumbai is the best in the country in 'Solid Waste Management'. The city of Bhiwandi has been declared as India’s ‘Fastest Mover’ Medium City. The City of Bhusawal has been announced as India’s ‘Faster Mover’ small city.
Parbhani becomes India's Best City in 'Citizens Feedback'Parbhani District in Marathwada, a clean survey of the city, has been the best in the response of citizens, whereas Bhiwandi city has been awarded the fastest medium city award.
Cleanliness awards to the city of Greater Mumbai
Under the cleanest State Capital in Capital cities, the Greater Mumbai has been declared as the Best City under Swachh Sarvekshan. The city of Bhusawal has been declared as the 'dynamic' small town.
Maharashtra State Level 3 Awards
Maharashtra has got three awards in the divisional category of the country. Panchgani city of Satara district has been declared the best 'clean city' in western division. Best City in Citizens Feedback in West Zone is Shendrajana Ghat in Amravati district has been awarded under 'Citizen Feedback' category. Saswad, the city of Pune district, has been awarded the 'Innovation and Excellent Workshop' award.
Today, the awards were announced and the award ceremony will be held soon, said Shri Puri. Secretary of the Department Durga Shankar Mishra and Director of Clean Survey Mission, V.K Jindal, Mission Director of SBM-Urban besides officers from the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs were also present at the function.
