Delhi 16: Eminent artistes, Singer
Suresh Wadkar, Playwright Rajeev Naik and Actress, Suhas Joshi have been
selected for the Prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the year 2018. A
total of four eminent personalities in the field of performing arts and 44
artists from the fields of Music, Dance, Theatre, Puppetry and Overall
contribution in the Performing Arts will be conferred this prestigious award. The announcement for the same was made on
Tuesday.
Under
the Ministry of Culture, The General Council of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, the
National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, New Delhi at its meeting held on 26
June 2019 at Guwahati, Assam unanimously elected four Eminent artists, Zakir
Hussain, Sonal Mansingh, Jatin Goswami and K.Kalyanasundaram Pillai, for Fellow
(Akademi Ratna) and also selected forty-four artists from the fields of Music,
Dance, Theater and outstanding contribution in the field of Performing Arts.
Suresh Wadkar- Akademi Award for Sugam Sangeet 2018
Shri
Suresh Wadkar has been selected for the Akademi Awards 2018 in the field of
Music for his outstanding contribution for – ‘Sugam Sangeet’ - other major
traditions of Music. A total of 11 eminent artists have also been selected in
field of Music.
Born
on 7 August 1955 at Kolhapur in Maharashtra, Shri Wadkar is a groomed Classical
Singer and performs excellently in Hindi and Marathi films. He has sung songs in some Bhojpuri films,
Odia albums, bhajans and Konkani films. Some
of his outstanding contributions in field of Music are - Eh Zindagi gale laga le…,
Megha re Megha re.., Lagi aaj sawan ki..
, Omkar Swaroopa and many such super hit songs.
Rajeev Naik for Playwriting - Akademi Awards -2018
Eminent Theatre
Artist, Shri Rajiv Naik has been selected for his valuable contribution in
field of Playwriting. A total of 9 eminent artist have been selected
for Akademi Awards -2018.
Dr. Rajeev Naik is an
acclaimed scholar in the subject of Linguistics and respected personality in
Indian Theatre. His creative works include short story collection, full length
plays as well as one-act plays for Experimental and Commercial theatre. Since
1996, Dr. Rajeev Naik is a visiting Professor in Lalit Kala Kendra (Centre for
Performing Arts) in Pune University where he teaches Theatre History and
Aesthetics.
Actress, Suhas Joshi selected for
Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards -2018
Eminent actress,
Smt. Suhas Joshi has been selected for her valuable contribution in the field
of Theatre. Smt. Joshi started her career in 1972 with the
Marathi play Barrister. Smt. Joshi played the role of Radha in this play
where the lead title role of Barrister was played by Shri Vikram Gokhale. Her notable plays include Sai Paranjape’s Sakkhe Shejari and Vijay Tendulkar’s Kanyadaan.

Player selected for Sangeet Natak Akademi
Fellow (Akademi Ratna)
Eminent
personality and Tabla Player, Shri Zakir Hussain has been unanimously elected
for Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellow (Akademi Ratna) 2018 for his extensive
contribution in the field of performing arts. A total of four eminent
personalities have been unanimously elected for Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellow (Akademi
Ratna).
The
Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards will be conferred by the President of India at a
special investiture ceremony.
The
honour of Akademi Award has been conferred since 1952. These honours not only
symbolize the highest standard of excellence and achievements, but also
recognize sustained individual work and contribution. The honour of Akademi
Fellow carries a purse money of Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakh) and Akademi
Award carries Rs 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh), besides a Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
Sameehan Kashalkar- to be conferred Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva
Puraskar
Eminent Hindustani Vocalist, Shri
Sameehan Kashalkar has been selected for
Sangeet Natak Akademi - Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskars for the Year 2018
for his outstanding contribution in the field of Music. A total of eight
recipients have been selected for this prestigious award.
Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva
Puraskar carries a purse money of Rs 25,000/- The Yuva Puraskar will be presented
at a special ceremony, by the Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi.
