Maharashtra’s Three Cities Honoured




NEW DELHI 15:  Maharashtra’s Pimpri Chindwad was awarded as ‘Best performer among satellite cities’ Greater Mumbai got the award as ‘Best performer among mega cities’ and Nagpur  received award for ‘Top mover in west zone’.
           Minister of Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu announced the results of ‘Swachh Sarvekshan-2016 and presented trophies and mementos to these cities for their efforts to improve sanitation The programme was held at  National Media Centre today.
      The Mayor of Pimpri Chindwad Municipal Corporation Sakuntala Dharade and Commissioner Rajiv Jadhav received the award . Deputy Mayor of Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation Dr. Alka Kerkar and Additional Commissioner Dr.Pallavi Darade received the award. Mayor of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Pravin Datake and Additional Commissioner Naina Gunde received the award.

   Mysuru received over all ‘Best performing city’ among all. 15 cities from across the country were  felicitated by the central government for their good work in different areas of sanitation,

          Mr. Naidu announced that all 500 cities with a a population of 1 lakh and above will be surveyed for cleanliness every year and a Rolling Trophy will be presented to the best performer.States will also be advised to rank cities so as to honour the best performing city in respective states and each Urban local body to similarly identify the best award in respect of sanitation
