Centre to allocate fund to Maharashtra for NRDWP

New- Delhi,25: The suspension for starting new scheme under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) should be removed and 1 thousand crore fund should be allocated. Maharashtra Drinking Water Minister  Babanrao Lonikar urged to Union Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Chaudhary Birender Singh.
   Meeting was held at the residence of Union Minister. Member of Parliament from Sangali (Maharshtra) Sanjaykaka Patil and Secretary of Drinking Water Ministry and Sanitation Parmeshwaran Iyer and Senior officers were present for the meeting. Union minister gave assurance for resolving the issues regarding the hurdles of implementation of NRDWP and to increase the fund allocation for the state. He also mention , “ we will send the technical team to the state to acknowledge the expectation of state from Centre Government.
   In meeting Mr. Lonikar stated that state is suffering from drought situation. More than 145 Tehsils is suffering from the scarcity. On the backdrop of this, demand of water supply is increasing from various parts of the states. Centre government has postponed new schemes under NRDWP, but seeing the drought situation in the state the suspension should be removed. He said the state required 1 thousand crore fund for the implementation of Drinking Water Programme.
    Speeking on the occasion ,Union Minister said, allocation of the fund for drinking water schemes will be on priority basis. For that senior officers team will visit the state and will do survey. They will interact with the officers and expert of concern department and will decide priority programme, and than Centre will provide assistance.
