New Delhi, 9 : Maharashtra is in the
process of creating responsible governance through use of IT, said the state
Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, while speaking at a programme ‘Oracle
Open World’ organized by Oracle Company
at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Use of IT can bring
about greater accessibility, credibility, transparency and responsibility in
governance and delivery of services, he said, adding as government is agency to
deliver various services to its people, we are IT leader and it would help us
do with greater efficiency and transparency.
In fact, the CM said
the problem so far had been that in the absence of IT, delivery system was not
quick and that was the biggest disconnect. In this context, he pointed out that
the state was planning to create a platform where no government official will
ask anyone to give one certificate to another government department for same
work.
Sh. Fadnavis said
secure, reliable and robust connectivity using optic fibre network has already
been provided to 14000 gram panchayats of the state under Maha-net Optic Fibre
with the goal to get access to the information superhighway.
The CM said with a view
to provide common last mile digitally assisted delivery channel for all citizen
centric services Aaple Sarkar portal is already in use. At the same time, we
are constructing digital roads at village level for their prosperity.
The CM informed the
gathering that the state was providing 370 services online through Right to
Services and added if the true benefits of the democratic system are to be
transferred to common man, transparency has no parallel. And for this delivery
of services through digital platform comes as a most powerful tool, he
remarked.
Referring to the vision
of the Prime Minister, Sh. Narender Modi for all round development of India
through use of IT, Sh. Fadnavis said what the country could not do in 100
years, it can do in just 10 years and this vision of Sh. Modi could only be
realized if states like Maharashtra perform “as it is powerhouse of India”.
Sh. Fadnavis was later given the Technology Transformation
Award for bringing about revolutionary changes in the IT sector in Maharashtra.
