New Delhi, June 29: Going by the spirit of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin, Central Scheme, ‘Maharashtra State wants to achieve the target in advance of providing shelter to rural poor by March 2020, for which an advance target of 7,94,030 houses be allotted to the state government, urged the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis in a meeting with the Union Rural Development Minister, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar today.
Shri Devendra Fadnavis met the Union Rural Development Minister at Krishi Bhavan to discuss various issues concerning the State. A review of all the ongoing projects pertaining to rural development was discussed during this time. Present in the meeting were Union Rural development’s Joint Secretary, Smt. Aparajita Sarangi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Praveen Pardeshi, Resident Commissioner, Smt Abha Shukla and concerned senior officials were present during this time.
The chief minister said that the State of Maharashtra has been allotted cumulative target of 4,49,820 houses till 2018-19 under PMAY-G against the 12,43,850 beneficiaries finalized by the District Appellate Committee. The balance target of 7,94,030 will be allotted to the State in due course of implementation of the scheme by 2022. However, Shri Fadnavis requested that the State be allotted advance target of 7,94,030 houses under PMAY-G and accordingly Central share for the same may be sanctioned and released during the current Financial year 2018-19. Adding further, he said this would help the State of Maharashtra to sanction the houses to all the remaining beneficiaries in the current Financial year and thus, the ambitious target woud be achieved by March 2020, which would be two years in advance of the target under PMAY-G. The union minister, Shri Tomar gave an assurance for considering the same.
Issues pending With the Ministry of Rural Development
During the deliberations, issues concerning MNREGA were also taken up. The chief minister apprised the union minister on the State Government incurring Rs 1thousand 5 hundred and 67 cr on unskilled expenditure under MNREGA in the Financial Year 2017-18. He further informed that a funding of Rs 606 cr has been received as material component from the rural development ministry as against expected funding of Rs 1 thousand and 44 crore. He underlined that the state government has taken up a drive to complete the ongoing 75000 irrigation projects, which will require the outstanding material component of Rs 438 cr. The Union Minister, Shri Tomar assured to release the difference amount as early as possible.
Shri Fadnavis also discussed on a pending proposal with the GoI regarding fund requirement of Rs 79.79 cr for completion of incomplete works in Grampanchayat which are converted in C class Nagarpanchayat. Shri Tomar assured to look into this proposal positively.
Prior to this meeting, the Chief Minister met the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in the morning at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg along with the Tribal Teen mountaineers from Chandrapur who had recently scaled Mount Everest. State Tribal Development Minister, Vishnu Sawara and Union Home Minister for State, Hansraj Ahir, Principal Secretary Tribal Development Department, Manisha Verma and Collector Chandrapur Ashutosh Salil were also present during this time.
