New Delhi, 1 Feb.: ‘The State of Maharashtra will shortly celebrate the ‘Ramayan Mahotsav across the state. This would blend the World’s Cultural weave and inculcate moral values, said the Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis at the inauguration of the ‘Surajkund International Crafts Mela’ today.
The 33rd ‘Surajkund International Crafts Mela’ started today at Surajkund at Faridabad in Haryana. He was addressing the inaugural function. Present on the occasion were Haryana Chief Minister, Shri Manoharlal Khattar, Maharashtra & Haryana Tourism Minister, Shri Jaykumar Rawal and Shri Ram Bilas Sharma and Mela’s Guest of Honour from Thailand H. E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi.
Addressing the audiences, the Chief Minister Shri Fadnavis welcomed all the participants across the world and India. He said this Mela has gained invitational recognition. Adding further he said the State of Maharashtra and Haryana share too much in common. The third battle of Panipat is which around one lakh soldiers were martyred changed the country's scenario. Had we won the battle, the Britishers would have never ruled this country. The socio- fabric of both the States has been maintained since our Maratha warriors laid down their lives on the Haryana soil. We share a bond of the soil and blood, said the Chief Minister.
Shri Fadnavis informed about the ‘Ramayan Mahotsav’ to be held in Maharashtra sometime in this year. Informing about the Mahotsav, he said, we have also brought in new surprises and one of them is the ‘Ramayan Mahotsav’. Adding further he said, the citizens from countries like Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia believe and celebrate ‘Ramayana’ in their own traditional style through this Mahotsav. Our government intends to bring all the artistes under one roof in Maharashtra and inculcate moral values, through this Mahotsav across the world and the department of tourism is doing a commendable job in this regard, informed the Chief Minister.
While speaking on the Historical battle of Panipat and on the Haryana Government constructing a Memorial as a homage to the martyred soldiers, the Chief Minister announced a contribution funding of Rs 3 Crores towards its construction. However he said, it is not that the Haryana Government needs the funding assistance from the State, but, we as government would like to contribute willingly as a mark of respect to the soldiers who shed their lives and blood for the nation. He also assured the Haryana Government of more help and co-operation if needed. Expressing confidence that this ‘Memorial’ would be one of its kind and the visitors visiting Haryana would go through the golden pages of History to understand the indomitable spirit of warriors on this prosperous land.
Speaking on the interim budget, the Chief Minister Shri Fadnavis said that it is a historic budget and has been drafted thoroughly taking into concerns of poor and rural, medium class, framers and women in mind. The Small and Medium Farmers would be paid Rs. 6000/-, the marginalized sector people would be get Rs.3000/- in their accounts, a tax concession of Rs 5 lakhs, and maternity leave of 26 months to the Mothers has been provided for in the budget, which is commendable.
The Haryana Chief Minister, welcomed Shri Fadnavis and other dignitaries at the inaugural session. He informed that this Mela started in 1987 and is a unique Mela which facilitates the trading facility amongst all artisans across the length and breadth of the world. This year, 31 countries are participating in this event, which would conclude on February 17.
