Maharashtra Receives Four National Water Awards - President of India presents 3rd National Water Awards







 

New Delhi, 29: Maharashtra’sSurdi Village Panchayat, Solapur, Dapoli Nagar Panchayat, Ratnagiri,GramVikasSanstha of Aurangabad and Agrowon, Sakal Media received theNational Water Awards, for their exemplary work in the ‘Water Management’ sector, at the hands of the President, Shri Ram NathKovind, today.

An Award Ceremony instituted by the Ministry of Jal Shakti was held at VigyanBhavan, in which a total of 57 Awards in 11 categories were awarded to recognize and encourage exemplary work in the field of water management,expansion of water campaign to underline the importance of water in our daily life. The Ministry awarded the efforts made by the States, Districts, individuals, Organizations in an effort to attain the Central Government’s vision of a ‘Jal Samridh Bharat’.

The President presented the third National Water Awards and also launched the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign 2022 in today. Present on the occasion were Union Minister of Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MoS Shri Prahlad Singh Patel and Shri BishweswarTudu along with other senior dignitaries.

            A Total of 57 Awards were distributed, in which Maharashtra State received four National Water Awards under various categories.  The Surdi Village Panchayat of Solapur received third rank in the Best Village Panchayat Category. The Dapoli Nagar Panchayat of Ratnagiri ranked second in the category of Best Urban Local Body. In the NGO category performing outstandingly well in the water management sector, the GramVikasSanstha of Aurangabad ranked third, where as in the Best Media category, the AgrowonSakal Media Private Limited bagged the second Best Award.

Dapoli Nagar Panchayat, Ratnagiri Ranks 2ndUnder ‘Best Urban Local Body’

The Dapoli Nagar Panchayat in Ratnagiri District received the second Best Award in the category of Best Urban Local Body.  Panchayat President, Smt.MamtaMore received this Award at the hands of the Union Jal Shakti Minister, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The Award consists of a citation and a Memento.

This Panchayat has undertaken several water conservation measures, including the rejuvenation of the Nargoi Dam. For its successful interventions in water management, the Dapoli Nagar Panchayat has been awarded 2nd Prize in the Best Urban Local Body category at the 3rd National Water Awards 2020.

Surdi Village Panchayat, Solapur Ranks Third Under Best Village Panchayat

The Surdi Village in the Solapur District received the third Best Award in the category of ‘Best Village Panchayat Award’ (West Zone). Senior Social Worker, Shri MadhukarDoiphode received this prestigious Award at the hands of the Union Jal Shakti Minister, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. A Memento and a Citation was also presented at this time.

            This Village Panchayat had been facing water crisis past few years. Through public participation, a sum of Rs60 lakhs and undertook several water related activities and through the villagers perseverance and hard work, today the village is free from water crisis.

GramVikasSanstha, Aurangabad Ranks 3rdUnder Best NGO Category

GramVikasSanstha, an NGO in Aurangabad District of Maharashtra received the third Award under the Best NGO Category.  The Secretary, Shri NarhariShivpure received this Award along with a Memento and a Citation. The sansatha is working towards the goal of sustainable development with the support of various sections of the society. The main areas of thrust are water resources management, sustainable rural development, training, research, health and empowerment of women.

Agrowon, Sakal Media P. Ltd. Ranks 2ndUnder Best Media (Print & Electronics)

The second rank under the Best Media (Print and Electronics) category was awarded to the Agrowon, Sakal Media Private Limited. Agrowon isthe world’s first daily on agriculture. The Director and Editor, Shri AdinathChavan received this Award at the hands of the Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Smt.Vini Mahajan.  The Award consists of a Citation and a Memento.

A total of 57 awards were presented in eleven categories- States, Organizations, Individuals,- Best State, Best District, Best Village Panchayat, Best Urban Local Body, Best Media (Print & Electronic), Best School, Best Institution/RWA/Religious organization for campus usage, Bes Industry, Best NGO , Best Water  User Association, and Best Industry for CSR Activity.
