New Delhi, 28 : The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station, Mumbai will be
transformed as the Union Cabinet approves a proposal for redevelopment of 3
major Stations including CSMT with an total investment of Rs. 10,000 crores .
Today’s Cabinet decision will give a new direction to the
station development. Work on 199 station is going on and tender have been
issued for 47 stations. Work is under progress for 32 stations, says the PIB
press release. It also mentions an approximation total investment of nearly
10,000 cr will be involved to give redeveloped look to 3 station- CSMT, New
Delhi and Ahmedabad .
Redeveloped Look of CSMT
The standard elements of station design will include a spacious roof plaza
with all passenger amenities under one roof-retail, cafeterias, and
recreational facilities.
Facilities like food court, waiting lounge, play area for
children and sale of local products will be include. To make a passenger comfortable,
provisions like proper illumination, way finding, signages, acoustics, lifts
and escalators will be made. The station will be integrated with metro, bus.
Green Building techniques will be solar energy, water conservation and improve
tree cover.
