New Delhi 4, : In order to make the air
travel affordable for the common citizen of the country, the launch of direct
flight between Kolhapur and Mumbai was inaugurated at the hands of Minister of
Civil Aviation, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia via Video conferencing today.
The
flight launched under the ambitious RCS UDAN Scheme of Ministry of Civil
Aviation, will provide air connectivity to tier-2, and tier -3 cities and
affordable air travel to all.
The
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Gen.Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.) was
present at the inauguration venue at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan. The event was graced
by Member of Parliament, Shri Sanjay Mandlik and Shri Dhairyasheel Mane
(Hatkanangale), Rajyasabha MP, Shri Dhananjay Mahadik from Kolhapur airport and
Maharashta’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Shri Chandrakant Patil participated
from Pandharpur. Addl.Secretary Ministry
of Civil Aviation Smt.Usha Padhe and
other Senior dignitaries were also present at this VC event.
Informing about the flight operations, Shri
Scindia said, the flight will operate between Kolhapur and Mumbai thrice a
week-Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Adding further he assured that the
expansion the apron of Kolhapur airport will be commissioned in November and
domestic terminal building will be inaugurated in March 2023.
