New Delhi, December 14:- Union Home Minister Mr Amit Shah today directed that the Maharashtra -Karnataka border dispute should be resolved with mutual coordination. He gave these directions in the meeting held with the chief ministers and home ministers of Maharashtra and Karnataka. He also directed that a committee of three ministers each from Maharashtra and Karnataka should be formed and the problem should be resolved after studying the situation.
Speaking to media after the meeting, in response to the directions, chief minister of Maharashtra Mr Eknath Shinde said that Maharashtra will be soon implementing the directions given by Union Home Minister Mr Shah. He also thanked the home minister for his sensitive intervention in the border dispute matter. The meeting was held in the library on the Parliament campus. It was attended by chief minister of Maharashtra Mr Eknath Shinde, deputy chief Minister Mr Devendra Fadnavis, chief minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai, home minister Araga Gyanendra.
Mr Shah also addressed the media after the meeting. He said that the border dispute should be resolved according to the constitution, adding that the matter is presently sub-judice with the Apex court. He said that unless and until the final verdict is given by the court, no state will be making allegations or counter allegations against each other. He said that three ministers from both the states should be included in the committee and they will visit the actual spot where the border dispute erupted and make a detailed study. Mr Shah said that in order to maintain law and order, the committee should be formed under the chairmanship of senior police officer.
He said that in recent days, many fake stories were made viral through the social media deliberately. The home minister said that most of such rumors were spread by fake Twitter medium. He warned that stringent action will be taken against such fake Twitter accounts. He also asked all the political parties to be careful and ensure that the border dispute does not take any ugly turn.
Would solve the problems of Marathi Manus - chief minister Shinde
Chief minister Mr Eknath Shinde said that the problems of Maharashtrians residing in the border region of Maharashtra -Karnataka will be resolved and Maharashtra is committed to do so. Speaking to the media after attending the meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Mr Amit Shah, he said that the problems of Marathi Manus will be overcome. Assuring that Maharashtra government stand firmly with the people residing in this dispute border area, he also said that the matter of border is pending in the supreme court and unless and until the final verdict is being pronounced by the Apex court, the instructions given by Union Home minister will be followed and all efforts will be taken to maintain peace in the region. Mr Shinde also said that the meeting was conducted today in a peaceful atmosphere.
Law and order maintained by Maharashtra- DCM Fadnavis
Deputy chief minister and home minister of Maharashtra Mr Devendra Fadnavis said that Maharashtra is maintaining law and order in case of the border dispute. Speaking to media, he said that few organizations are deliberately trying to create dispute and strict action should be taken against them. He said that the union government had assured of taking strict action against such organizations.
Mr Fadnavis also said that Maharashtra has not yet violated any law in the border region, adding that litigations are been filed against the people who are residing in the border region. He said that sometimes attempts are made to close down the Marathi schools and sometime the issue of Marathi language comes to the fore. The deputy chief minister also said that the committee of the ministers will be studying this in detail and they will come out with amicable solution.
