National Capital Rolls Out Red Carpet For Ganpati Bappa Huge Crowds Take the First Glimpse of Bappa AT Maharashtra Sadan






New Delhi, Sep. 19: With loud shrills of “Ganpati Bappa Morya”, the National Capital was abuzz and anxious to welcome their favourite deity, the Lord of the Wisdom, ‘Ganpati Bappa’.  Maharashtra Sadan and many Ganesh Mandals in Delhi and NCR gave a warm welcome to Lord Ganesha, on the first day of Ganeshotsav.

The entire city geared up to celebrate Ganeshostav. Of late, the installation of Ganpati idols and celebration of 10 day long Ganesh Festival has increased in  Northern India. Maharashtra Sadan has installed a grand Ganpati Idol in its premises and everyone present was in a vibrant and festive mood today.

All the devotees of Lord Ganesha, gathered at Maharashtra Sadan to welcome the Lord Ganpati, the remover of  obstacles and the Lord of Wisdom. The pious idol was installed by the Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Samiti. Resident Commissioner Shri Rupinder Singh performed the PranPratisthapana Puja at Sadan. Present during this time were Assistant Resident Commissioners, Smt. Smita Shelar and many other officers and employees.

There are many Ganesh Mandals in and around the National Capital. They too celebrate the festival with lots of enthusiasm and host a series of cultural programmes all the ten days. These consist of folk dances, songs, famous Lavani dance, Drama, Musical evenings, Kirtans and like. Maharashtra Sadan will host a number of cultural performances during the ten day festival.

The occasion, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi, honors the arrival on earth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed God said to bring wisdom and remove obstacles from the paths of the lives of true believers. Introduced in 19th Century, by freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak, today it is widely celebrated in India and abroad.
