MAHARASHTRA GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TOWARDS THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ‘PESA’ :DEEPAK KESARKAR



NEW DELHI, 04 :. Production of bamboo trees,Tendu leafs,forest products,and 100 hector water pond transfered to PESA Gram Panchayat in state.The Maharashtra Governor has played a vital role in implementing PESA.The Government have decided to go full steam ahead with implementation of PESA said by, Maharashtra's Minister of state for Rural Development Deepak Kesarkar while addressing at the National workshop.


      Maharashtra government have realise that PESA implementation will require a lot of handholding,learing and the state would also need financial support. PESA is one of the legislations which is at the forefront of tribal welfare policy in Maharashtra. PESA has helped to managed the state to make some path breaking changes Mr. Kesarkar said.

        The Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Shri Chaudhary Birender Singh inaugurated the workshop on PESA Act (Provisions of Panchayats-Extension to Scheduled Areas) at Vigyan Bhawan today.  The National workshop was oraganised by Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India.

         Deepak Kesarkar said ‘PESA’ is no longer as abstract notion in Maharashtra.He wished to ensure that there is progress in livelihood, managerial abilities and articulation of democratic ideas through PESA.PESA has ensured that bamboo has been handed over to hundreds of villages shows our intent to translate the idea of PESA into reality. Government supporting women’s for their active participation  in  PESA Gram panchayat


         He said villages should allowed to make mistakes, otherwise how will they learn self-governance ? In giving complete access to bamboo and other manufacturing things, in developing 5% of annual Thrift Savings Plan of 250 Crore and in allowing the Gram Sabhas to have a Gram Sabha Kosh. At last he pointed that there are certain grey areas in PESA which needs to be clarified and he hoped that these amendements will see the light of the day.
