Panchyati Raj Award for Maharashtra



New-Delhi, 23-Maharashtra bagged the Panchayati Raj Award  for decentralization and remarkable work in the state. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will present the award to  1 District Panchayat, 2 Intermediate Panchayat, and 14 Gram Panchayat of the state. Maharashtra Minister for Rural development, Pankaja Munde will receive the prestigious award .

       The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will address the Panchayati Raj Sammelan on the Occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day on Sunday the 24th of April, 2016 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The main function is being held at the J. R. D. Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur .  
  

        17 Panchayat Institution of Maharashtra will receive the award for their remarkable work in the states. There will be around 3000 Panchayati Raj representatives from across the country. These awards are to be given to 183 Panchayats, which includes 21 District Pnachayat, 39 block or Intermediate Panchayats and 123 Gram Panchayats. Awards to States that have devolved maximum powers to Panchayats so far (Cumulative Devolution Index awards) to  Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Sikkim. 


 The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has been celebrating the National Panchayati Raj Day (NPRD) on 24 April since 2010, as on this day, the 73rd Constitutional Amendment came into force in 1993. So far, NPRD was celebrated in Delhi, but this year, as part of the ‘Gramoday se Bharat Uday’ Abhiyan, the National Panchayati Raj Day is being celebrated in all Gram Panchayats in the country. The campaign began with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s 125th Birth Anniversary on 14th April 2016, and culminates with the Panchayati Raj Day on 24th April 2016.


     The Minister for Rural Development, Drinking Water & Sanitation and Panchyati Raj Chaudhary Birender Singh will present the Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar and Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Purakar to Best Performing Panchayats and Gram Sabhas..
  
        In this campaign, Nation-wide efforts have been made to strengthen Panchayati Raj, and through it, increase social harmony across villages, promote rural development, and foster farmers’ welfare & livelihoods of the poor. The Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Gramoday se Bharat Uday’ Abhiyan on 14th April 2016 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. From 14th April to 16th April, 2016 a ‘Social Harmony Programme’ was conducted in all Gram Panchayats.

         Maharashtra came second in the ranking as the state that have devolved maximum powers to Panchayats. Satara District Panchayat, Wardha and Satara as Intermediate Panchayat have emerged best in their respective category. Wadibhagi Gram Panchayat of Sangli and Shirala, Shiwani Gram Panchayat of Bhandara and Lakhani, Dugaon Gram Panchayat  of Nasik, Bhuj Gram Panchayat of Chadrapur and Brahmapuri, Aarawade Gram Panchayat of Sangli and Tasgaon, Matkunki Gram Panchayat of Sangli and Tasgaon, Talmod Gram Panchayat of Osmanabad and Omerga, Loni Gram Panchayat of Ahmednagar and Rahata, Golvan kumame Gram Panchayat of Sindhudurg and Malvan, Lawari Gram Panchayat of Chandrapur and Ballarpur, Wagdara Gram Panchayat of Nagpur and Hingna, Dhaba Gram Panchayat of Akola and Barshitakli, Kharadewadi Gram Panchayat of Satara and Phaltan emerged best in the Gram Panchayat category.
