2 Nurses From Maharashtra Conferred Nightingale Awards


     Nurses are Backbone of Healthcare System: President
                    
NewDelhi,12: Nursing are the backbone of the healthcare system. Nurses play a vital role in all aspects of healthcare said by President Pranab Mukherjee on the occasion of International Nurses Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The award is instituted on this day every year since 1973 by the Ministry in fond memory of Florence Nightingale’s birth anniversary. 35 Nurses from different states were selected for this highest civilian award in Nursing Sector.
     Two Nurses from Maharashtra, Smt. Meera Kishore Pardeshi from Sub District Hospital, Daund, and Smt. Jyoti Muralidhar Bhangale  of Sub Centre-Paladhi,  Jal gaon District  were conferred the prestigious National Award in the noble profession of Nursing, ‘National Florence Nightingale Award for meritorious nursing personnel. The Florence Nightingale Awards carries Rs.50,000/-cash, a citation certificate and a medal.
        The prestigious award was conferred in the presence of Shri J.P Nadda, Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Shri B.P Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The President congratulated the award winners and said Nurses play a vital role in all aspects of healthcare, be it national health campaigns like polio eradication, mid-wife services and community education. Their level of commitment and care are much valued in both urban and rural areas, including remote areas of the country. Their contribution is critical in the achievement of the nation’s healthcare goals. Their inputs into health sector policies are equally important for they help in creating the necessary supportive work environment for their practice. 
   Smt. Meera Kishore Pardeshi and Smt. Jyoti Muralidhar Bhangale expressed satisfaction after receiving the Awards.  Pardeshi has been worked in various positions from three decades with excellence track record of professional practices. She has worked in various capacities at PHC, Civil hospital and Family Welfare Bureau. She has published two articles on health issues in local journals..
  Smt. Bhangale is a compassionate nursing professional who has been dedicatedly serving people in her community. In recent years , she has been a strong  advocate of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padao campaign. She has nuber of certificates and appreciation letters from various organizations.
