New Delhi, 01: Planting sapling in the Maharashtra Sadan premises, Resident Commissioner and Secretary Abha Shukla has praised the State Government’s tree plantation initiative, calling it motivational.
Tree Plantation was done at Maharashtra Sadan premises at Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Copernicus Road in National Capital. Speaking on this occasion, Abha Shukla said each person should plant a tree to ensure pollution-free living. She urged everyone to participate in this initiative. In all 150 tree saplings were planted in both the premises of Maharashtra Sadan. These saplings included Black berry, Amla, Walnut, Gulmohur, Neem, Mango, Palm, Cassia and various other varieties of trees.
Calling all the officers and
staff of Maharashtra Sadan to participate in the plantation activity
voluntarily, the Resident Commissioner urged them to adopt the sapling planted
for future and look after it.
Maharashtra State Government
celebrated the ‘Vana Mahotsav’ (Forest Festival) on Friday
by planting about 2 crore tree saplings across the state as part of their
ambitious initiative. State Forest Department, Social Forestry and Forest
Department Corporation would plant about one and half crore trees out of the
total target of 2 crore trees set by the government. Rest 50 thousand trees
shall be planted at various government departments, semi-government offices,
schools, grounds and other open spaces.
On this occasion Resident Commissioner Protocol and Investment Lokesh Chandra, Additional Resident Commissioner Samir Sahai, Assistant Resident Commissioners Bharti Zade, Dr. Kiran Kulkarni,Rajiv Malik, Sanjay Aghav, Ajit Singh Negi along with all the staff members of Maharashtra Sadan and Maharashtra Information Centre were present.

Marking the State Government’s ambitious initiative of planting 2crore trees in the state, a tree plantation drive was also organized in the Maharashtra Information Centre’s premises on 1st July. Information Officer Anju Nimsarkar-Kamble led the plantation initiative along with all the staff members of MIC.
