Maharashtra Showcases Development At Bharat Parv




 









New Delhi, 12 : The six -day Bharat Parv got off to a colorful start at the Rajpath Lawns, India Gate, New Delhi today with the Defence Minister, Shri Manohar Parikkar, inaugurating it.
There are 17 Theme State Pavilions showcasing there achievements and initiatives, tourism destination and handicrafts besides cuisines with Maharashtra taking part in it in a big way. Performances from different regions of the country including Delhi based cultural organizations and associations of different states are taking part in it.
The State of Maharashtra has put up an impressive stall highlighting its culture, role played by great Maharashtrian leaders in freedom movement of the country and the rapid strides it has made in industrial development and information technology infrastructure over the past two years. It highlights the role played by Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Vasudev Balwant Phadke in the independence movement of the country. It also showcases the great role played by social reformers like Shau Maharaj and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar besides Mahatma Jyotirao Phule.
Maharashtra has given the country two of the greatest artistes in Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Lata Mangeshkar, both Bharat Ratna whose photographs have been put up at the stall. Besides the pavilion also focuses on the Saint tradition which has been a great traditional aspect of the state.
In the field of industrial development the state has made a great progress in the last two years, something which has been aptly highlighted at the stall with slogans like Make in India and Make in Maharashtra being displayed on the board there boldly.
The state is rich in Paithani sarees and bangles made of lac, Warly paintings and Kolhapuri foot wear which is on display there and for sale as well. As for the typical food of Maharashtra, you can savour the taste of Puran Poli, Vada Pav, Modak, Junka Bhakri, Pithla, etc. at the food court here.
Maharashtra also happens to be a great tourist destination, thanks to its varied topography. It has attractive tourist spots like Matheran, Mahabaleshwar, Ajanta & Ellora caves on one hand and a rich flora fauna on the other hand. All this has been well depicted here at the stall which is bound to attract any nature lover towards the state
The Union Tourism Minister, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, visited the Maharashtra Stall and evinced keen interest in various exhibits there. He was later presented a copy of “Lokrajya”, the state’s mouthpiece.
