New Delhi, 16: Under the Prime
Minister Krishi Sinchan Yojana(PMKSY), the Government of Maharashtra has urged
for Rs 440 crore for drip irrigation program. Maharashtra’s Joint Director
(Agri.) Shirish Jamdade informed today.
Under
the PMKSY the drip irrigation program in the country was reviewed in a meeting
held under the Chairmanship of Mrs. Nirja, Joint Secretary, Agriculture to
Government of India. Shri Jagdade informed about the State's drip irrigation
program and urged for a funding assistance of Rs 440 crores against it.
Under the PMKSY Maharashtra has been sanctioned
a fund of Rs 620 crore 47 lakh for drip irrigation program. Of which, the
Central Government will share funding to the tune of Rs 380 crore and the rest will
be borne by the state government. In
Maharashtra, massive work has been undertaken under drip irrigation and so far,
3 lakh farmers have been benefitted of drip irrigation program. In Maharashtra,
in the Districts of Nashik, Jalgaon, Solapur, Pune, etc., there has been major
work of drip irrigation. In other Districts, drip irrigation programs are being
implemented in large numbers. Maharashtra has given an additional demand of Rs.
60 crores to the central government. Maharashtra
Government has requested that the sanctioned grant of Rs.380 crores plus an
additional grant of Rs. 60 crores should be approved totaling Rs. 440 crores be
given so as to carry out the agricultural works. Shri Jamdade also informed
that financial assistance of Rs. 190 crores has been already sanctioned to
Maharashtra from the sanctioned grants.
