Prime Minister Praises Efforts of Chandrapur Tribal Mountaineers

New Delhi, 29: The Tribal Teen Mountaineers from Chandrapur District who recently created history by scaling Mount Everest, were here to meet the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. Giving a patient ear to their rigorous efforts and experiences encountered while summiting Mount Everest, the Prime Minister lauded their hard work and wished them success for their future endeavours. The Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis was present in this meeting.

The meeting was held at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of the prime minister. Prior to meeting him, these students had met the President, Shri Ramnath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Manisha Dhurve, Kavidas Kathmode, Umakant Madavi, Vikas Soyam, Pramesh Ade, Indu Kannake, akshay Atram, Shubham Pendor, Chhaya Atram and Akash Madavi sought guidance from the Prime Minister at this time.  All the mountaineer students narrated their adventurous experiences with the prime minister. Giving a patient ear to their experiences, Shri Modi lauded their efforts and wished them success for future.

The Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister of State for Home and Member of Parliament from Chandrapur, Shri Hansraj Ahir, State Tribal Development Minister, Vishnu Savara, Principal Secretary, Tribal Development Department, Smt. Manisha Verma and Chandrapur Collector, Shri Ashutosh Salil were present in the meeting.

These tribal students simply created history.  None of them had even stepped out of Chandrapur District. And they took a leap direct to scale Mount everest, which is simply commendable and that too in the stark contrast temperatures. All this could be possible, for, the Maharashtra Government took a unique initiative under “Mission Shaurya—Unleashing the Power within” expedition through the tribal development department and the ITDP Chandrapur. They  provided them the required wings to realize their dreams. Within a short span of 10 months these students were prepared to face extreme freezing temperature of minus 40 degrees from their usual temperature of 48 degrees Celsius.

Prior to this, the Prime Minister had already mentioned about their feat in “Mann ki Baat” programme. During this meeting, the prime minister appreciated their passion of realizing their dreams.
