PM confers First NYP Festival Prize To Maharashtra’s Shweta Umre




New Delhi, Feb 27: Maharashtra’s Shweta Umre topped the National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 and was felicitated at the hands Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. In an award ceremony held today at the Vigyan Bhawan, the top three winners were women.  The National Level Finals of the National Youth Finals concluded yesterday and the top three winners were Shweta Umre from Maharashtra, Anjanakshi M.S. from Karnataka and Mamta Kumari from Bihar who was on the third position. Present during this time was Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister (I/C), Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore.
A total of 56 participants across the country were here in the last and final competition. Shweta Umre was the topmost finalist and was felicitated with cash money of Rs 2 lakhs, a trophy and a citation.

After the receipt of her award, Shweta Umre was welcomed at Maharashtra Information Centre.  The Deputy Director, Shri Dayanand Kamble presented her a bouquet. While asking her about this journey, she explained that this festival was jointly organized by National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.  The youth under the age bracket of 18-25 years was invited to participate in the District, State and National level Youth Parliaments.  Before speaking about her whole journey of two months, she expressed her gratitude towards all the people of Maharashtra and said that she was greatly indebted to all the State for imparting moral values, education and supporting her in her endeavors all the time. Further she said, she was selected at Nagpur, the district she hails from and further participated in the State level competition at Savitribai Phule Pune University. She topped the same and was here to participate in the National Level Parliament Festival.  She was here in the national capital and participated on 26th and 27th of February.  Finally, she emerged as a winner and today she sounded extremely happy sharing her thoughts.
Informing further, Shweta said that the Festival was organized at four levels—City, District, State and National Level. She participated at Nagpur’s Matruseva Sangh Mahavidyalaya and the topic assigned was, ‘Initiatives taken by Government of India against Terrorism’.  At State Level, the topic assigned was, ‘Digital India as a Bridge between the Urban and Rural Divide’. She was the winner both the times.  At National level, the topic of discussion was, ‘Connecting India economically, geographically with cultural aspects’. Here again she was the topper. She has won around 250 awards so far in various fields and is presently pursuing her last year degree course at Government Institute of Forensic Sciences. When asked her about her dreams, she came up with that she wants to become a Film Director.
Shweta’s Mother Dr. Savita Sharma is working as a Research Officer at National Ayush Ministry’s Regional Office at Nagpur and her Father, Shri Shirish Umre is a Director at CSR, Mumbai.
