Kumar Biswas Assumes Charge of Resident Commissioner of Maharashtra Sadan

Shri Samir
Kumar Biswashas assumed the charge of Resident Commissioner of Maharashtra
Sadan. He took over this charge from Dr. NirupamaDange.
Maharashtra Cadre IAS Officer of
1990 Batch, he has served in the State and Central Government. Prior to this
post, Shri Biswas was on a Central Government deputation,posted as an
Additional Secretaryin the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers for last seven
years.He has a wide experience of 31 years. He has taken over this charge fromDr.
NirupamaDange, an IAS Officer of 2008 Batch.
Prior to this posting, he was the
Chief Executive Officer of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project in Mumbaifrom2012-14.
From Year 2000-2012, he held several
senior roles in Maharashtra State – as Managing Director of the State Textile
Corporation and State Financial Corporation, Jt. Managing Director of the State
Road Development Corporation and Director of Census Operations. At the Maharashtra State Road Development
Corporation, he worked on a number of mega-infrastructure projects such as the
Integrated Border Check Posts Project and Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Bridge etc.
After assuming the charge, the PRO
and Deputy Director (A/c) of Maharashtra Information
Centre, MsAmarjyot Kaur Arora paid a courtesy visit and wished him for his new
tenure.
Shri Biswas has graduated with a
B.Tech (Electrical Engg) from I.I.T. Madras, Chennai. Shri Biswas has completed his Post Graduate
Diploma in Public Policy and Management from I.I.M. Bangalore. He has also
obtained Master of Financial Management degree from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of
Management Studies, Mumbai University.
He is an Alumni of Goldman School of Public Policy in University of
California, Berkeley.
